SocialCast Terms of Service

Short version: SocialCast is free software I share as is. You own what you make with it, and you are responsible for following the rules of the platforms you post to.

These terms are an agreement between you and Martin De Lange, trading as MartinWorks ("I" or "me"), covering your use of the SocialCast desktop application and any related downloads from martinworks.org. By installing or using SocialCast, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

1. What SocialCast is

SocialCast is a free desktop application that helps you reframe a video, add captions, and publish it to your own social accounts. It runs on your own computer. There is no subscription and no account with me to create.

2. Your licence to use it

I grant you a free, personal, non-exclusive licence to install and use SocialCast for your own creative work, personal or commercial. You may not resell it, present it as your own product, or remove its identifying marks. All rights I do not expressly grant remain mine.

3. Your content is yours

You keep all rights to the videos, captions, and other content you create or publish with SocialCast. I claim no ownership of it and never receive a copy of it, because the app runs on your machine.

4. Your responsibilities

• You must own or have the rights to any content you publish, including music, footage, and images.
• You are responsible for following the terms and community rules of every platform you post to (for example the YouTube Terms of Service), and for anything that happens to your accounts as a result of what you post.
• You must not use SocialCast for anything unlawful, harmful, deceptive, or that infringes someone else's rights.
• You are responsible for keeping your master password safe. I cannot recover it, and losing it means losing access to your saved connections.

5. Connected accounts and third-party services

When you connect an account (such as YouTube), you authorise SocialCast to act on that account on your behalf, only to do what you ask it to do inside the app. Those services are run by other companies under their own terms and privacy policies, which govern your relationship with them. SocialCast's use of Google and YouTube data follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. How your data is handled is described in the Privacy Policy.

6. The app is provided "as is"

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, I will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, or for any lost content, lost data, lost revenue, or damage to or suspension of your accounts, arising from your use of SocialCast. Since the software is free, my total liability to you is limited to zero. Some of these limits may not apply where the law does not allow them.

8. Availability and updates

SocialCast is a personal project. I may update, change, or stop offering it at any time, and I am not obligated to provide support or updates.

9. Changes to these terms

If these terms change, I will update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use SocialCast after a change means you accept the updated terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, without regard to its conflict of law rules.
